OblivionScape
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered played together on one server. It runs on the version Steam gives you today, 1.512.105. One account holds up to three characters on each realm, and one launcher installs and updates everything.

Windows 10 and 11. 1.5 MB. The launcher updates itself and the game client, so this is the only file you download.
How to play
- You need The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on Steam, version 1.512.105, which is the current Steam build. Your single-player game and its mods stay as they are; the mods guide says which mods can stay installed while you play here.
- Create an account on this site with an email address, a display name and a password. The form has a short human check. A fixed number of accounts is admitted every 28 days, first come first served. The number left in the current round is at the top of this page.
- Download OblivionScape.exe from the button above and put it anywhere, for example on the desktop. Windows may show a SmartScreen warning the first time you run it: select More info, then Run anyway.
- Run it and sign in with the email address and password from step 2. The launcher keeps you signed in on this PC.
- The launcher finds Oblivion Remastered in your Steam libraries and installs the OblivionScape client into a folder named OblivionScape inside the game's folder. Nothing outside that folder is changed. On the Play screen, make a character in a free slot, then press Play.
- The game starts and puts you into the world as your character. A new character begins in the game's own opening, in the Imperial Prison, and is made in the game's own menus. The compendium describes what a new character meets.
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| O | opens the O window: Players, Party, Guild, Market, Board, Sheet, Stats, Mail, Help and Instances |
| Enter | opens the chat line; Enter sends, Esc closes |
| E on a player | the menu for that player: trade, duel, mute, give an item; on a fallen player, revive them |
| V | hold to talk: players near you hear you |
| R, Y and N | on the death screen: go to the nearest chapel at once, or accept or decline a raise |
The realm keeps your character: level, skills, spells, items, gold, quests and where you stand, so you have the same character on any PC. Every player sees the same townspeople going about their day, the same creatures in the wilds and the same goods at each merchant, and the game's quests run on the realm, one story for each character. Sleeping and waiting are closed, because the clock belongs to everyone.
You can play in a party of up to five, challenge another player to a duel, fight players outside the cities without losing your gear, trade and mail, keep a stash and a guild bank, keep a stall at a merchant, and take up two professions: alchemy, enchanting, tanning, scribing or smithing. Enemies choose whom to fight and run when they are hurt, and the guards of a city fight. The realm counts down in the chat before it restarts, and the game reconnects by itself afterwards. The realm list shows each realm and how many players are in it, and the compendium describes every rule.
Your account
- An account holds up to three characters on each realm. The launcher's Play screen lists them and is where you make a new one or delete one. Deleting asks you to type DELETE first, because it cannot be undone.
- A character's name is 2 to 21 letters, with up to two spaces, two apostrophes and one hyphen, never two of them in a row, and it starts and ends with a letter. No two characters on a realm share a name.
- Your account page lists your characters, every signed-in launcher and browser, and every live play session, with a button that logs out everywhere at once. A play session lasts 12 hours, and the launcher starts a new one every time it starts the game.
- A forgotten password is reset from the password page: we email you a link to choose a new one, which works for 1 hour and once. We email you only about your account; the Privacy Policy lists what we send.
Mods
The launcher adds its own files in the OblivionScape folder inside the game's folder and changes nothing else. When you start the game from Steam or from a mod manager, OblivionScape is not loaded at all, and your single-player game and its mods are untouched.
When you start the game from OblivionScape.exe, the script extender does not run, so its plugins are absent for that session. Mods that only change how the game looks or sounds are fine. Mods that add or change items, creatures, people, places or rules are not supported, because every player on the realm must see the same world. The mods guide goes through each kind.
The game folder and its version
Where the launcher looks
The launcher looks for Oblivion Remastered in every Steam library on your PC. If it cannot find the game, select Choose the folder and pick the folder that holds OblivionRemastered.exe. Steam opens that folder for you: right-click Oblivion Remastered in your library, then select Manage and Browse local files.
Game versions
OblivionScape supports Oblivion Remastered 1.512.105 and no other version. That is the build Steam installs today, so there is nothing to downgrade and no second copy of the game to keep.
The launcher reads your game's version before it starts it and tells you what to do if it does not match. When Bethesda patches the game, support for the new version comes from our side, and until it does the launcher says the version is not supported. When we patch the client or the launcher, the launcher installs the change the next time you open it. You never download anything from this page again.
Connection
The realm is called Ember. The game reaches it over UDP port 27300. The launcher sets this up; if your firewall blocks outgoing UDP, allow OblivionRemastered-Win64-Shipping.exe through it.
Trouble?
- The launcher cannot write to the game folder: select Restart as administrator once, or move Oblivion Remastered out of Program Files.
- A file the update needs is open in another program: close the game, let your antivirus finish scanning, then press Play again.
- The launcher cannot find the game, or says your game version is not supported: see The game folder and its version.
- "The realm refused this connection": start the game again from the launcher, which installs the client that matches the realm.
- Stuck at the main menu: the realm may be down, or your firewall may be blocking outgoing UDP. Check the realm list, then run the launcher again.
- The game crashes when it starts: in the launcher, open Settings and select Verify & repair files, which puts back any OblivionScape file that is wrong. If you have mods installed, try without them; see the mods guide.
